Joanne Winter
Joanne Winter, age 78, of Enfield, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born January 6, 1933, in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Zeta (Longbonds) Chapman. She married Robert Merrick and had five children with him. She later married Arthur Winter and he preceded her in death. Joanne was a homemaker and a farm wife who worked with Disabled Veterans as a volunteer.
She is survived by four sons and their wives and partners, Edwin Clayton and Linda Merrick of West Salem, William Robert Merrick and Nina Avers of Enfield, James Bruce Merrick of Valier, and Steve and Debbie Merrick of Enfield; one daughter, Bernadine Joanne Harrell of Evansville; a brother, Jim Chapman of Texas; nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her second husband, Arthur; her parents; and a sister, Norma Mae; and a grandson.
