Doris M. Upton
Doris M. Upton, age 83, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born June 8, 1927, in Herald, the daughter of Alva and Pearl (Harvey) Hoy. She married John Upton and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Upton was a homemaker who worked briefly at Ainsbrook as a seamstress.. She attended church in Herald.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Karen Upton of Carmi, Michael and Patricia Upton of Cynthiana, IN, and Kenny Upton of Danville, IL; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Daniel Ranson of Evansville, IN, Cindy Rowe of Evansville, IN, Brad and Lana Upton of Arizona, Lisa and Joseph Trebuth of Carmi, and Matt Upton of Danville, IL; eleven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three brothers, Walter, Luke, and Shirl Hoy; and six sisters, Orpha Hughes, Mildred Hale, Golda Guthrie, Nigel Morgan, Dorothy Hoy, and Claire Hoy.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 from 10 to 11:00 am at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi.
