Ronald Lee Orten
Ronald Lee Orten, age 64, of Carmi, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. He was born August 12, 1946 in Dawson Springs, KY, the son of Richard L. and Helen (Adcock) Orten. He married Kay Huff on June 25, 1990 at Henderson, KY and she survives.
Ron had worked at Ritiki Coal Mine in Henderson, KY for many years. He was a mason and a member of Hadi-Shrine. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Green Beret in Vietman.
He is survived by his wife Kay; his father and step-mother, Richard L. and Carolyn Orten of Dawson Springs, KY; two sons and daughter-in-law, Derek Orten of Madisonville, KY and Aaron and Jonnie Orten of Newburgh, IN; a step-son and his wife, Tyson and Cassie Cummins of Eldorado; one step-daughter, Mandy Cummins of Carmi; five grandchildren, Trinity Orten, Tyler and Boede Cummins, Marley Mallow and Cash Kirkpatrick; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Regina Orten of Hopkinsville, KY; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Rae and Leon Parker of Hopkinsville, Nancy and Harold Howell of Mortonville, KY and Vicki and Gary Bivens of Dawson Springs, KY. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Storms and one son, Troy Orten.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday February 20, 2011 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi with burial in Marshall Ferry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service on Sunday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Carmi American Legion and V.F.W.
