Doris S. Little
Doris S. Little, age 82 of Carrollton, died early Monday morning June 27, 2011 at her home. She was born on January 2, 1929 in Carrollton the daughter of William and Mabel (Edwards) Stendeback. She married Charles Ray Little on November 27, 1956 at the Carrollton First Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2011.
Doris was a cook at the Carrollton High School for many years. She was able to please several hundred hungry school kids each and every day. She was not only the cook, but was a mentor to many kids through the years. She loved watching Tony and her nephews play football throughout their high school time. She loved her family, was a loyal Cardinal and Rams fan and enjoyed bargain shopping.
She is survived by, 1 son, Tony Little of Tampa, FL; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Sid Norton of Altanta, GA; 4 grandchildren, Darbie (Jay) Cooper, Bailey Dixon, Ashley Norton and Lauren (Derrick) Muzzin; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie and Janet Stendback of Pittsfield and Larry and Linda Stendeback of Virginia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, William, R.D., Adrian, and Stanley; and one sister, Vera Lee VanMeter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. On Wednesday June 29, 2011 at the Carrollton First Methodist Church with burial in Carrollton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home of Carmi, IL and the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements. Condolence message We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Doris. She was a "rock" to her family and so many more. She will be missed by all. Carrollton certainly will not be the same without her.
