Arnold W. "Scrappie" Frymire

Arnold W. “Scrappie” Frymire, age 84, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was born September 19, 1936 in “Dog Town”, the son of Edgar and Ina (Frashier) Frymire. He married Patsy J. Deahl on November 25, 1950 at the Enfield Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on January 4, 1992.

Scrappie had worked as a carpenter, but spent most of his working career as a truck driver for Commercial Transport. In his retirement years he worked as a bailiff at the White County Courthouse. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carmi.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Wayne and Donna Frymire of Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Ray Winter of Carmi; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Edwards of Hobbs, New Mexico and Vonda Lichtenberger of Carmi.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday February 18, 2011 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi with burial and military rites by the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. in White County Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday February 17, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
