Mary Irene Felty
Mary Irene Felty, age 81 of Carmi died Monday morning March 21, 2011 at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. She was born May 28, 1929 at Marshall Ferry, the daughter of Guy Emory and Viola (Burris) Burnett. She first married J.D. Sherrard and later married Wesley Felty, both preceded her in death.
Mary was a beauty operator for over 30 years. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Beauty School. She was a longtime White County resident of Carmi and Dogtown. She was a member of the Marshall Ferry General Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Barbara Sherrard of Carmi; one grandson, Chris Sherrard of Carmi; one great-grandson, Andrew Logan Sherrard; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Shirley Burnett of Possum Trot, KY and Henry Phillip and Fannie Burnett of Griffin, IN; one sister, Letha May Ninnes of Crossville. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Donald Sherrard, Jr.; two brothers, Frank and June Burnett; and four sisters, Ruby Large, Pauline Bell, Jenny Holland and Bernie Fay Burnett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11:00 am, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi, with Rev. Bob Pollard officiating.
