Sarah LaVere Edwards
Sarah LaVere Edwards, age 94, of Carmi, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born August 5, 1917 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Aaron and Jessie (Fairchild) Biggerstaff. She married Clifford E. Edwards on December 19, 1941 at Charleston, MO and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2001.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Enfield Chapter; and a longtime member of the Enfield United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Kelly Edwards of Carmi; one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Max Apple of Harrisburg; 2 nephews, Don Apple of Newburgh, IN and Roger Apple of Harrisburg. Also survived by a sister-in-law, LaNelle Edwards of Carmi. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, LaVern Eckroth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with Chaplain Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Enfield United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at kittinger-fairfuneralhome.com
