Dorothy J. Buckner
Dorothy J. Buckner, age 71, of Carmi, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born February 8, 1940, in Carmi, the daughter of James Roe and Laverne (Goff) Churchwell. She married Delbert Buckner on August 6, 1955, in Mississippi and he preceded her in death March 24, 1995. Dorothy was a homemaker who ran a craft shop for several years. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Mary Buckner of Carmi; two daughters, Rebecca Cartmill, and Linda Hunt and her partner, Wendy Bell, all of Carmi; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Ann Churchwell of McLeansboro; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mabel Townsend of Carmi, and Roetta and Ed Erwin of Carmi; ten grandchildren, Michael Yates, Theresa Pollard, Michele Newman, Kenneth Renshaw, Joshua Hunt, Christina Newman, Denise Helton, Joseph McGuire, Roe Cartmill, and Rob Cartmill; twenty-five great -grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; a brother, James Churchwell; a sister, Wilda Stokes; and a son-in-law, Bruce Carmill.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 8:00 pm, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until the time of service.
